This past Saturday I spent ten minutes (five two minute sessions) in the Paraclete XP SkyVenture wind tunnel in Raeford, North Carolina which recently opened. It is 16.5′ wide and 51′ tall - now the world’s largest wind tunnel. How lucky am I to have this tunnel two hours away? This weekend I’m planning on getting in for another 30 minutes.
It is mind blowing how much you can learn as a skydiver inside a wind tunnel in just a few minutes.
Here are some photographs. I’m not in these.

I haven’t gotten to jump in three weeks due to rainy weather on the weekends, but I would like to thank Louis French for his time to help me figure out my packing problem. I was having line twists on almost every jump. I spoke to a lot of people and asked a lot of questions and could not figure it out. Louis gave me some tips and made some suggestions after watching me pack and I’ve jumped my pack jobs several times with consistent straight on heading openings and no line twists. A definite improvement and complete turn around. Thank you Louis!
This Saturday, Louis is taking some of us over to the Paraclete XP Wind Tunnel. I purchased 10 minutes of time in the tunnel as it is very expensive and that was all that I could afford right now. He will be taking more groups in the future and I may purchase a 20 minute slot next time. I should have some video of my time in the wind tunnel afterwards.
