So Popeyes in Rochester, New York runs completely out of chicken by dinner time and customers are just irate about this travesty. One customer yells, “People have kids that they [are] trying to feed for the special and you’re telling me [that] I can’t feed my kids!?”

Oh come on lady have you heard of Kentucky Fried Chicken?

Another customer proclaims, “I’m not coming back now, I’m done”.

“No chicken? Or they’re just out of chicken?”

…what?

I love it.

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last year

Posted by chrisgrooms in Misc

Last year I started to feel rough for some reason and I couldn’t figure out why. I thought it was stress caused by my girlfriend at the time. It was hard to explain, but I remember feeling a loss of energy and maybe breath. At some point my heart started beating rapidly all the time which got worse.

Thought I would look up the symptoms and see which ones I have after going through this for a year now.

Symptoms: Nervous, moody (you may or may not notice that I’ve embraced being a real jerk for once in my life in the last year - I’ll blame that on my condition), very weak, very tired and randomly can’t so much as hold my eyes open, hand tremors, fast and irregular heartbeat (was 120-126 bpm when I was diagnosed), sweat often, hair is falling out (or just not growing), intolerance to heat, have lost 30lbs and can’t sleep (mainly due to my heart pounding away every night) among plenty of others.

I was prescribed several medications, but haven’t taken them for more than two months. I know, what am I thinking. I hate taking drugs, in any form. Just not my thing. Tomorrow I’m calling my doctor and making an appointment, this is getting too hard to deal with anymore.

Hyperthyroidism is a condition in which an overactive thyroid gland is producing an excessive amount of thyroid hormones that circulate in the blood. (”Hyper” means “over” in Greek). Thyrotoxicosis is a toxic condition that is caused by an excess of thyroid hormones from any cause. Thyrotoxicosis can be caused by an excessive intake of thyroid hormone or by overproduction of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland.

I’m going to attempt to order this list from best to least best, according to the time I spent playing the game, whether I played it through more than once or didn’t finish it or just the amount of fun I had playing it.

Uwharrie National Forest Primitive Camping

Posted by chrisgrooms in Misc

This Monday I’m going to the Uwharrie National Forest for a primitive camping trip. I really don’t know the good camping sites in North Carolina, but Uwharrie is pretty large and has several options. According to what I’ve read, Uwharrie allows you to setup a primitive camping site anywhere unless otherwise posted, but I’ll leave that for next time. I’m just going to setup on Badin Lake this time and try my hand at fishing for food and make it as primitive as possible.

The plan is one day to make a seven day backpacking trip across Yellowstone. So, I’m studying a bit on survival and backpacking before I go, and slowly buying up the backpacking gear. I’ve got a gas stove the size of a credit card. That is just cool.

Update: I didn’t wear a hat and got a bad sunburn on my head. Next time I’ll bring a cover for my head. :-|
