Life Changing Goals

Depending on how well you know me, you probably know how many dreams and goals I have. Without them I don’t have any kind of direction in life. Without direction, I can become pretty depressed. Basically, goals keep me sane because I know I’m still making an attempt at bettering myself and there is hope that one day I’ll achieve those goals. That could either mean that I’ll be rich or I’ll just have a decent job. Either way, they aren’t dumb goals to have. Their just goals.

I learned early on that when you sit back and wait for things to come to you, they never do. Face it. You’re not the son of a senator or a famous actor. You’re going to have to work to get what you want. Some people are just blessed by chance. If you think you’re one of them, you’re going to get gray hair before you realize it’s too late so you had better get off the couch and put down the remote.

People without goals aren’t worth much more than the loser with no job on welfare. I don’t understand it. People complain that they don’t have anything and believe that everything should be given to them. They are content with sitting around on the couch, while collecting welfare checks and food stamps. How is that the better life? How is that even acceptable?

If you’re that person, wake up. You’re a leech on society’s progress. You not only hurt yourself, but those around you. Most importantly, your family, because you’re not the only one that gets to live the loser’s life. Your children depend on you for food and clothes. And you’re like an anchor on the leg of those of us that choose to work hard for something better.

For as long as I can remember I have had goals and wanted more than what I had. I am just the type of person that shoots high. When you set goals for yourself, you have direction. If you aim high, you may be disappointed, but the higher the goal, the higher you jump. Regardless, you achieved something and that is better than nothing.

I found out pretty quick that if I don’t set goals and I don’t work for them I can become pretty depressed. The goal itself is not the only motivation. If I don’t push myself to be better, I feel like a loser and that I don’t deserve it.

Sure I’m nowhere near where I want to be, but the important thing is that I’m trying and that is one of the most important parts of having goals. If you’re always working for something, you’re a better person already.

Never let anyone tell you that you “can not”. It is up to you to decide what you can achieve. No one ever thought I would jump out of an airplane. Now I have done it ninety five times. It was a challenge and I worked very hard for it. It took a lot of motivation, time, patience and guts.

When you hear that voice in your head that says “I can’t do it”, tell it to shut up. You would be amazed at what you can do when your own gut is telling you no. No one ever achieved anything worth while by taking no risk.
